Customs at Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG) generally operate 24/7. However, to show merchandise for VAT refunds, it’s best to arrive at least 3 hours before your flight to ensure there’s enough time to go through the VAT process.

Hello, my flight is at 7:20 AM on 8th April. How can I navigate the tax refund process, and how long does it typically take? What is the procedure, and do I need to arrive at the airport 24 hours in advance? What time will the authorities start the procedure ?

Would anyone know whom I would contact to make a complaint about the treatment I was given with the French customs at the airport?

Hi, I have a question would like some clarification and help to.
my trip started from 3 June, Hong Kong to Paris, and then I will also travel to Spain and Italy.
My trip ends on 16 June, and my return flight to Hong Kong is : Florence to Paris CDG Terminal 2F and then have my next flight back to Hong Kong in Terminal 2E. (transit time : 3 hours 20 mins).
I will have different tax refunds from shopping in Paris, Spain and Italy.
What is the best way to have my tax refund done? And is there any tax refund locations I can go to within Terminal 2E, which is near what gate number ? And will they closed? because my time arrive will be 20:00 at night and I worry the tax refund location might be closed.
And do I need to carry all the items with me for tax refund? I will go for tax refund in bank or credit card payment.
And anything I need to pay attention to ?
many thanks !!

At Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG), you can complete your tax refund process in Terminal 2E at the tax refund office near Gate 1 on the departures level, or at PABLO machines located in the post-security areas. The tax refund offices are usually open from 06:00 to 22:00, so you can easily do your refund at 8:00 pm. You must have all your purchased items and receipts with you, as customs officers may want to see them. You can receive your refund in cash or by credit card, and you may need to use the PABLO terminal for your forms. It’s recommended to allow enough time for the process, as there can be queues during busy periods.

To process your tax refund at CDG Terminal 2D, head to the PABLO kiosk near Gate 6 before checking in your luggage. Scan your tax-free form's barcode; if validated, you'll see a green confirmation. For cash refunds, proceed to the Cash Paris desk after security. Given potential queues and the refund process, it's advisable to arrive at least 3.5 hours before your 10:05 AM EasyJet flight, so by 6:30 AM.

Hi! I pack pretty light with carryon and a backpack so when I bought some purses, they come in a bag and the box is pretty large - does the bag cover suffice as original packaging or do i need the very large boxes as well? Thank you!

For your purses at France CDG Airport, the bag cover is usually fine as "original packaging" if they're for personal use. Keep your receipts, as these are more important for customs than large boxes, especially if you're within duty-free limits.

Hi, I have a question for VAT Refund. I am leaving Paris to Zurich via Train(TGV LYRIA). Can I do my VAT Refund at CDG Airport Terminal 1 (Hall 6) a day before? Is the Counter after Security or before Security and will there be any issue as I am not flying out from the Airport?
Another Question, I have checked that there is a VAT Refund Counter at Gare Du Nord as well, but that is if I have a Eurostar Ticket? so without a Eurostar Ticket I couldn’t do my VAT? Pls clarify. Thanks

If you're traveling from Paris to Zurich by TGV Lyria, you cannot process your VAT refund at CDG Airport, even a day before. CDG VAT counters are only for passengers flying out. For train travel to Switzerland, you must validate your refund at Geneva Cornavin station.
