Homelessness Prompts Restrictions on Non-flyer Entry into the ATL Airport

Atlanta Airport Recent News

Atlanta City Council recently approved restrictions on non-flyer access to public areas of the terminals. The legislation was under consideration after multiple complaints were received regarding homeless people loitering around the airport. As per reports, around 300 homeless people were found to be taking shelter at the airport. The new policy bars non-flyers from entering and only allows people flying or picking up passengers to enter.

Previously, access to terminals was restricted between 11 p.m. and 4:30 a.m. but the restriction now applies on all hours. According to reports, the change was prompted due to various complaints of theft from baggage claim areas and harassment. "Travelers, employees, visitors meeting or greeting passengers, or any others doing business at the Airport are welcome. This legislation aims to clarify who is authorized to enter the Airport and enhance our safety and security protocols to maintain a secure environment for all," the airport authorities said while speaking to the press recently.
