Suvarnabhumi Airport Immigration Files Complaint After Misleading Video by Chinese Tourist

Immigration officers at Suvarnabhumi Airport have filed a formal complaint following a video that circulated online showing a Chinese tourist secretly filming an officer. The video wrongly suggested that entry into Thailand could be bought with money and claimed staff would help with luggage or allow working without a visa.

Pol Maj Gen Choengron Rimpadee, head of Immigration Division 2, confirmed the video was taken inside the arrival hall. The officer shown is Pol Capt Eknarin Chantamatharapaskul, a deputy inspector in charge of incoming immigration.

Eknarin told investigators the tourist approached him for help with the online entry form (TDAC). He helped out of goodwill, and later walked him to the regular passport control line when the traveler said they needed to hurry. Eknarin did not know he was being secretly recorded. He said the video was edited with false claims that damaged the reputation of Thai immigration.

Choengron noted that from January to May 2025, about 8,193 foreigners were denied entry for trying to use tourist visas for work. He also warned that some agents and people are promoting fake videos that suggest officials can be bribed.

Eknarin has filed a complaint for defamation at Suvarnabhumi Police Station. Immigration authorities are also seeking to cancel the tourist’s visa and blacklist them from Thailand.

Officials urge the public not to trust or share misleading videos that unfairly harm the reputation of Thai immigration services.
