Best Time to Visit Thailand

The best time to visit Thailand is from November to April when the weather is cool and dry. These months offer comfortable temperatures ranging from 25°C to 30°C, perfect for sightseeing, beach trips, and outdoor activities. If you are planning to visit Bangkok, this period is ideal because the humidity is lower, and there are many festivals like Loy Krathong and Songkran to experience.

May to October is considered the rainy season, especially in southern Thailand and Bangkok. Although it rains often, showers are usually short and can cool down the hot weather. Travelers on a budget may enjoy this time since hotel and flight prices are generally lower. If you don’t mind occasional rain, you can still enjoy many attractions with fewer crowds.

Thailand Visa

Visitors from many countries, including the United States, do not need a visa for stays of up to 60 days for tourism purposes. However, you must have a valid passport with at least six months of validity from your arrival date. Upon entry, you’ll receive a visa exemption stamp. If you wish to stay longer, you can apply for a 30-day extension at an immigration office for approximately 1,900 THB (56 USD).

Transportation

Getting around Bangkok is convenient with a variety of options. The BTS Skytrain and MRT subway are the fastest and most reliable ways to move around the city, especially during rush hour. Fares typically range from 16 THB to 59 THB (0.50 - 1.70 USD) depending on distance. 

Taxis are available but always ensure the driver uses the meter. You can also use ride-hailing apps like Grab to avoid misunderstandings. For short distances, tuk-tuks offer a fun, if sometimes bumpy, ride. River ferries are a scenic way to travel along the Chao Phraya River, and they are very affordable at around 15 THB (0.45 USD) per trip.

A basic hospital visit can cost around 2,000–5,000 THB (60–150 USD), and more serious treatments or hospital stays can reach thousands of dollars without insurance.
