HKG Airport Location
HKG sits on Chek Lap Kok island, off the north coast of Lantau, about 34 km from central Hong Kong. Its position places around half the world’s population within a five-hour flight and offers seamless links to mainland China.

Ground Transportation
The Airport Express reaches Hong Kong’s central business district in about 24 minutes. Buses and taxis are also available, with taxis colour-coded by area (red for urban, green for the New Territories, blue for Lantau), plus SkyPier ferries to the Pearl River Delta.

Terminals Overview
HKG has two passenger terminals. Terminal 1 is one of the largest in the world, with many boarding gates, while Terminal 2 has been redeveloped under the airport’s expansion. An Automated People Mover links the terminal areas for easy transfers.
Parking Services
HKG offers several car parks for hourly and long-term parking. Automated payment systems accept Octopus Card and major credit cards, and there are dedicated spaces for electric vehicles and drivers with disabilities.
Entry, Customs and Departure Tax
Hong Kong has no VAT, so there is no tax refund scheme. An Air Passenger Departure Tax applies to most travellers aged 12 and over and is usually included in your ticket. Customs procedures are efficient, with green and red channels on arrival.
