On April 30, 2025, the Airport Authority Hong Kong (AAHK) hosted the "Hong Kong International Airport Reception 2025" at AsiaWorld-Expo, unveiling significant advancements and innovative services at Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA). The event was graced by prominent figures, including Fred Lam, Chairman of AAHK; Mable Chan, Secretary for Transport and Logistics; Algernon Yau, Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development; Victor Liu, Director-General of Civil Aviation; and Vivian Cheung, CEO of AAHK, alongside other esteemed guests.
Chairman Fred Lam highlighted the commencement of the Three-runway System in November 2024 as a pivotal milestone since the airport's relocation to Chek Lap Kok in 1998. He emphasized HKIA's continued leadership as the world's busiest cargo airport and introduced the ambitious Airport City development under the new brand, SKYTOPIA. This initiative aims to leverage Hong Kong's unique position under the "one country, two systems" framework, optimizing the airport's land and adjacent marine resources to establish a world-class landmark.
SKYTOPIA encompasses several key projects, including the Airport Bay Marina, an Art Hub, and a 20,000-seat performance arena as part of AsiaWorld-Expo's Phase 2 expansion. These developments are designed to enhance HKIA's status as a global aviation hub and cultural destination.

The reception featured interactive experience zones showcasing HKIA's latest innovations. A notable highlight was the live demonstration of the world's first autonomous vehicle fleet operating in a live airport environment. This included a driverless bus designed to shuttle passengers between the Hong Kong Port of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge (HZMB) and the airport, marking a significant step in integrating advanced transportation solutions.
Additionally, the event introduced an automated parking system tailored for transfer passengers and visitors from the Greater Bay Area, streamlining the parking experience and enhancing overall efficiency.
