A new route has just broken aviation records, setting a new benchmark for endurance in commercial air travel. Xiamen Air’s nonstop service between John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) in New York and Fuzhou Changle International Airport (FOC) in southern China is now officially the longest flight in the world.
Breaking the Record
There’s a new record for the world’s longest nonstop flight, knocking Singapore Airlines’ route from John F. Kennedy International Airport to Singapore Changi Airport from the top spot. As of October 2025, Xiamen Air’s 19-hour, 20-minute flight from JFK to Fuzhou Changle International Airport (FOC) has taken the crown, according to Simple Flying.
The flight route originally operated between 2017 and 2020 and returned in 2024, but this marks the first time the scheduled block time has reached nearly 20 hours. Covering approximately 7,077 miles (6,752 nautical miles) each way, this ultra-long journey now defines endurance flying.
One major reason for the extended duration is that Xiamen Air avoids Russian airspace on its path to and from the United States, forcing the aircraft to take a longer detour around restricted zones. Other carriers, such as Cathay Pacific, continue to fly over Russia, allowing their routes, like JFK to Hong Kong, to clock in at around 16 hours and 25 minutes.
