Domodedovo International Airport has started a new cultural project called “Music at the Airport” to bring live music closer to passengers, visitors, and airport employees. The project began on July 17 and allows musicians from the “Music in the Metro” program to perform at one of Russia’s largest airports.

The main goal of the project is to create a more enjoyable atmosphere inside the airport. Passengers usually spend time waiting before their flights, and live music gives them a chance to relax and enjoy a different airport experience. The performances take place on Fridays and add a creative touch to everyday airport life.

A New Stage for Moscow Musicians

“Music in the Metro” is a cultural project that started in 2016 by the Moscow Department of Transport and the Moscow Metro. Since 2022, the Moscow International House of Music has managed the artist selection process for the project.

Live Performances

Selected musicians from the Moscow project can now perform at Domodedovo Airport and share their music with passengers from different countries.

Airport Experience

The project creates a connection between aviation and culture, making the airport environment more welcoming and enjoyable.

The first performances included several talented musicians. Singer Nikolai Ryabukha performed songs with a classical music group featuring violin, cello, guitar, and piano. Alisa Denisova created a jazz atmosphere for passengers, while Lev Volkov performed a summer-themed song. Pavel Pikalov closed the event with an original song connected to the “Music in the Metro” project.

Connecting Aviation and Art

The “Music at the Airport” project continues Domodedovo’s efforts to combine travel with cultural experiences. In October 2025, the airport launched another music project called On the Wings of Music”.

Music Inside the Terminal

As part of the “On the Wings of Music” project, a concert grand piano was placed in the International Departure Terminal. Passengers can use the piano and enjoy music while waiting for their flights.

While the piano project is open to anyone who enjoys music, the new Music at the Airport program focuses on professional musicians and organized performances.

For Passengers

Live music creates a calmer and more enjoyable atmosphere before flights.

For Artists

Musicians receive a new performance space at a major international airport.

Culture and Travel

The project connects international travel with art and creativity.

Domodedovo Airport believes that music can make airports feel warmer and more welcoming. By bringing artists and passengers together, the project creates a unique connection between aviation and culture. The airport is not only a place for travel but also a space where people can enjoy art and memorable experiences.
