T’way Air to Launch North American Service to Vancouver
South Korea’s low-cost carrier T’way Air will make its North American debut on July 12, 2025, with four weekly flights between Seoul’s Incheon International Airport (ICN) and Vancouver International Airport (YVR). The airline will use its Airbus A330-300 widebodies for the 5,093-mile journey, offering travelers a fresh option on a long-haul route that links two major hubs.
This transpacific service will introduce new competition on the route, which currently sees daily flights by Air Canada and 12 weekly flights by Korean Air. According to OAG Schedules Analyser data, there are roughly 11,000 two-way seats available each week between ICN and YVR; T’way’s entry is set to add about 2,700 more seats to that total.
The Vancouver launch underscores T’way Air’s shift from its established short- and medium-haul network within Asia to true long-haul operations. This move follows the carrier’s recent openings in Europe, where it now flies nonstop to Barcelona, Frankfurt, Paris Charles de Gaulle and Rome Fiumicino.
T’way’s expansion has been supported by Korean Air’s merger with Asiana Airlines, which led to regulatory concessions requiring Korean Air to lease five A330s to T’way and allow the budget carrier to take over several key international routes divested during the deal process.
The addition of widebody aircraft has given T’way a significant capacity boost: for the week of May 12, 2025, the carrier’s available seat-kilometers rose by 26% year-on-year. The new Vancouver service is expected to attract leisure travelers and the roughly 50,000-strong Korean community in western Canada, while also putting pressure on fares dominated by full-service carriers.
