Tehran Airport Flights — Live Arrivals and Departures

Real-time flight information for both of Tehran’s airports, in one place.

Tehran is served by two airports with distinct roles. Imam Khomeini International Airport (IKA), around 30 km southwest of the city, handles almost all international traffic in both directions, while Mehrabad Airport (THR), inside the western part of Tehran, handles the bulk of domestic services. Whether you are flying, connecting or meeting someone, the first thing to establish is which of the two the flight actually uses.

Use the live board above with your flight number to confirm the airport, the current time and the status. IKA and Mehrabad sit on opposite sides of Tehran, so this one detail shapes the entire travel day.

Using the Flight Board Above

Arrivals and departures are tracked through the same interface:

Search by Flight

Look up a flight number, airline or route to find the service you need among the day’s movements.

Scheduled vs. Live

Compare the published time against the live status to catch delays before they affect your plans.

Airport & Terminal

Confirm whether the flight uses IKA or Mehrabad before anyone sets off in either direction.

Status Updates

On time, delayed, boarding, landed or cancelled, as published by the airlines.

Two Airports, Two Different Journeys

Imam Khomeini International (IKA)
  • What It Handles

Almost all international arrivals and departures, including the long-haul services that cluster late at night and before dawn.

  • Where It Is

Around 30 km southwest of Tehran, so the journey in or out is a real leg of the trip rather than a short hop.

Mehrabad (THR)
  • What It Handles

The bulk of domestic services connecting Tehran with cities across the country.

  • Where It Is

Inside the western part of Tehran, which makes it far quicker to reach from the city than IKA.

What to Expect in Each Direction

Arriving 3 stages
  • 01Passport Control

Immigration desks process arriving passengers, with separate lanes for nationals and foreign visitors. Keep your documents in hand luggage.

  • 02Baggage Claim

Follow the monitors to the carousel assigned to your flight; airline desks handle delayed or missing luggage.

  • 03Customs and Exit

Baggage is presented to customs before you reach the public hall, where transport counters and meeting areas begin.

Departing 4 stages
  • 01Entrance Screening

Bags are screened at the terminal door before the check-in hall, which adds a few minutes during busy waves.

  • 02Check-In and Bag Drop

Counters close well before departure, so the check-in window matters more than the take-off time itself.

  • 03Passport Control

Exit immigration processes departing passengers before the security checkpoint.

  • 04Security and Boarding

Confirm your gate on the monitors after security, since assignments can change once you are airside.

Getting To and From the Airports

Between Tehran and the Terminals IKA ~30 km
  • Taxis

The most common option and the only one that works at any hour. Agreeing the fare in advance is the normal practice, and hotels can usually arrange a car for an overnight flight.

  • Metro Link

A metro connection serves IKA but runs on limited hours rather than around the clock, so check the operating times against your flight.

  • Buses and Shuttles

Bus and shuttle services link the city, Mehrabad and IKA, with journey times that vary considerably with traffic.

  • Between the Two Airports

Moving between IKA and Mehrabad means crossing Tehran by road. Treat it as a separate journey rather than a connection, and allow a generous margin.

Practical Notes for Tehran Flights

Worth Knowing in Either Direction IKA & THR
  • 01Confirm the Airport First

IKA and Mehrabad are on opposite sides of the city, and arriving at the wrong one is not a mistake you can correct quickly.

  • 02Plan Around the Night Schedule

Many international services operate late at night or before dawn, when metro and bus options are not running and taxis are the practical choice.

  • 03Carry Cash

Foreign bank and credit cards generally cannot be used in Iran. Visitors arrive with cash to exchange, and departing travelers deal with leftover local currency before passport control.

  • 04Verify Entry and Customs Rules Early

Visa arrangements, insurance requirements and export restrictions depend on your nationality and change periodically, so confirm them with an official source before travelling.

  • 05Use the Live Status, Not the Schedule

Whether you are flying or collecting someone, the published time is a starting point — the board above carries the one that matters on the day.

Editor's Insight

For Tehran, almost everything that goes wrong traces back to one of two assumptions: that both airports are interchangeable, or that the flight time is the time that matters. IKA is 30 km out of the city and runs its heaviest international traffic overnight, Mehrabad is in town and runs domestic, and the road between them crosses the whole of Tehran. Settle the airport and the ride first, and the rest of the process is routine.
