Border Control Strikes Expected at Heathrow
More than 600 border officials are expected to go on strike for four days in April. Public and Commercial Services Union informed that officials have decided to go on strike after many felt the Border Force has become ‘Unprofessional and inhumane’. The strike is expected to take place between 11-14 April against the shift patterns which could endanger jobs of 250 staff members by the end of the next month.

The officers, who carry out immigration and passport control at the London Heathrow Airport, voted by 90% to walk out against the decision. Fran Heathcote, PCS general secretary said: “Ministers have 14 days to withdraw these unfair and unnecessary proposals or our members at Heathrow will take strike action. He also claimed that there has been no consultation with the staff, leaving them with little or no choice regarding the new arrangements. “Ripping up flexible working arrangements is no way to treat staff especially as the Government says their work is critical to our nation’s security.”, the general secretary explained.
