Vietnam’s Long Thanh International Airport is getting closer to its official opening as international airlines begin checking the airport’s facilities and future operation plans. Airlines from Japan and South Korea have recently visited the airport to review passenger services, cargo facilities, and airport systems before commercial flights start.
The visits show growing international interest in Long Thanh Airport. The new airport is expected to become an important aviation hub in Southeast Asia and reduce pressure on Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City.
Long Thanh Airport is located in Dong Nai Province, about 40 kilometers from Ho Chi Minh City. The airport will begin trial operations in September and is planned to start commercial services on December 1, 2026.

All Nippon Airways visited the airport on August 3. The airline team inspected the airport model, Runway 23L, and the passenger terminal to learn more about the airport’s capacity and future development plans.
The runway has already been used for test flights by Vietnamese airlines, including Vietnam Airlines, Vietjet Air, and Bamboo Airways during the airport’s technical opening. Korean Air also visited the airport to review passenger facilities, immigration areas, and cargo operations.

Long Thanh Airport Supports Future International Flights
