Vietnam is moving closer to opening Long Thanh International Airport, one of the country's largest infrastructure projects. Construction work is progressing quickly, and officials expect the airport to begin commercial operations later this year.
The passenger terminal, which is the airport's main building, has now reached about 70% completion. Contractors are working on the final stages to prepare the terminal for trial operations starting in September.

Passenger Terminal Nears Completion
The passenger terminal is the most important part of Long Thanh Airport. According to Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV), construction work is moving forward as planned.
The main concrete structure, including the basement and four upper floors, has already been completed. Workers have also finished the large steel roof structure.
Construction teams are now focusing on interior work, installing the glass skylight roof, and completing the outdoor landscaping. Their goal is to have the terminal mostly finished before trial operations begin.

Airport Equipment Installation Continues

Security equipment, boarding bridges, elevators, escalators, and moving walkways are also being installed across the terminal to prepare the airport for future passenger operations.

The fuel supply system has passed 80% completion, while work continues on cargo facilities, airport management systems, and internal roads.

Trial Operations Will Begin Soon
Before opening to passengers, Long Thanh Airport must complete several rounds of testing between September and November.
Airport staff will test baggage systems, passenger services, security equipment, aircraft handling procedures, and communication systems.
Government agencies will also inspect and certify the airport before commercial flights officially begin.
