Find Your CDG Terminal in 30 Seconds
Charles de Gaulle has three passenger terminals: Terminal 1 for most non-Air France international airlines, Terminal 2 (seven separate halls, 2A to 2G) for Air France and its partners, and Terminal 3 for low-cost and charter flights. All three are linked by the free CDGVAL shuttle train.
Landing at Charles de Gaulle for the first time can feel like stepping into a maze of terminals, satellites and corridors. It becomes simple once you know one thing: your terminal is decided by your airline, and every terminal is connected by a free train. This guide walks you through each one, floor by floor.
Map of CDG Airport
Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport — known locally as Roissy Airport — is the main international gateway to France. Open since 1974 and located in Roissy-en-France, just 23 kilometres northeast of central Paris, it takes its name from the World War II statesman Charles de Gaulle, whose initials form its IATA code, CDG. Here is the full airport layout:
CDG Terminals at a Glance
| Terminal | Mainly serves | Layout | Railway station |
|---|---|---|---|
| Terminal 1 | International airlines (except Air France) | Circular building, 5 floors, 7 satellites | CDG 1 (+ free CDGVAL) |
| Terminal 2 (2A–2G) | Air France, SkyTeam partners, European & long-haul | Seven connected halls | CDG 2 |
| Terminal 3 | Low-cost and charter flights | Single building, Hall A & Hall B | CDG 1 (short walk) |
CDG Airport Terminal 1
Terminal 1 is the oldest part of Charles de Gaulle Airport and handles mostly international flights operated by carriers other than Air France. Shaped like an octopus, its circular core holds check-in, security and shopping, while the boarding gates sit in seven satellite buildings connected by underground tunnels with moving walkways. The ground floor is not open to passengers.
CDG Airport Terminal 1 Map: Floor by Floor
Terminal 1 has five passenger floors, each with a clear job. Use this as your vertical map:
- Floor 2 CDGVAL station, shops, food court, check-in desks 5–6 Before security
- Floor 3 Departures with check-in desks 1–4 and ticket offices Before security
- Floor 4 Duty-free shopping and tunnels to the satellite boarding gates After security
- Floor 5 Arrivals, baggage claim and ground transport Arrivals
- Blue / Red / Green Terminal 1 car parking levels Parking
From Floor 5 you can head straight to your transportation options — buses, taxis or a pre-booked private transfer waiting at arrivals.
Terminal 1 Insider Tip
Once you pass security on Floor 4, your gate may be a tunnel ride away in one of the seven satellites. Check your satellite number on the screens before you settle into a café — the walk is longer than it looks on the map.
CDG Airport Lounges
Lounge services are available in Terminals 1, 2B and 2D, giving you a calm space before your flight with complimentary refreshments, Wi-Fi and quiet zones for relaxing or working.

Paris Charles de Gaulle International Airport Terminal 2
Terminal 2 is the heart of CDG. It is made up of seven sub-terminals, each with its own check-in zones and boarding gates, and it is dedicated mainly to Air France plus its European and long-haul partners. Here is what each hall does:
Terminal 2A
Check-in 1–8 Boarding gates A & C
Arrivals on the ground level, departures on the first floor. Home to many non-Air France long-haul carriers.
Terminal 2B
Check-in 1–2 Boarding gates B & C
Reopened after a full renovation — also one of the terminals with lounge access.
Terminal 2C
Shared with 2A Boarding gates C
Two floors: arrivals on the first, departures on the second.
Terminal 2D
Shared with 2B Boarding gates D
Mirrors the 2C layout. European and medium-haul flights, plus lounge access.
Terminal 2E
Check-in 2–13 Boarding gates K, L, M
The largest section. Halls L and M are reachable only by the airside transit train — leave extra time. The Yotel airport hotel is here.
Terminal 2F
Check-in 1–7 Boarding zones F
Built around transfer passengers, mostly short-haul European routes.
Terminal 2G
Shuttle bus only Boarding zones G
A separate satellite building for regional flights, reached by shuttle bus from Terminal 2F.
CDG Airport Terminal 2 Map
The seven halls — 2A, 2B, 2C, 2D, 2E, 2F and 2G — sit in a long arc around the Terminal 2 railway station. Halls 2A to 2F are joined by walkways, so you can move between them on foot:
Watch Out for Gates L and M
In Terminal 2E, boarding areas L and M are reachable only by the airside transit train. If your boarding pass shows a gate starting with L or M, head there as soon as boarding is announced.

Some airlines appear in more than one hall because departures and arrivals can be handled separately. Your boarding pass is always the final word.
Roissy (CDG) Airport Terminal 3
Terminal 3 sits directly opposite Terminal 1, roughly 1 kilometre away, and primarily serves charter and low-cost airlines. Unlike Terminal 1, it is a single, simple building: arrivals on the north side, departures on the south, with the departure area split into Hall A and Hall B.
CDG Airport Terminal 3 Map
North side
Arrivals and baggage reclaim, with direct access to the CDGVAL station and the walkway to the CDG 1 railway station.
South side
Departures, check-in desks and security, organised into two zones: Hall A and Hall B.
While you wait
A compact selection of shops, cafes and services — everything is within a couple of minutes' walk, so waiting time here is easy to manage.
