It is the oldest and quickest-completed cathedral in the world, having been built there three times.
Known for its blue Iznik tiles and distinctive six minarets, the Blue Mosque, which faces Hagia Sophia, was constructed in Sultan Ahmet's honor.
Hippodrome, the epicenter of the old city's political and sporting activities (chariot races, athletics).The monuments adorning the Hippodrome include the Serpentine Column, the Obelisk of Theodosius, and the German Fountain of Wilhelm II.
The Grand Covered Bazaar is the world's largest "souk" and the most beautiful shopping complex, with nearly 4000 shops selling souvenirs, gold, carpets, leather goods, and jewelry.
