After Mecca and Jerusalem, the Eyup Sultan Mosque and his Tomb are the most holy places in Istanbul, drawing tens of thousands of pilgrims each day.

The flagbearer of the Prophet Mohammed, Eyup El-Ensari, perished here in the seventh century during the Arab siege of the city. The mosque's surroundings are magical and vibrant thanks to the old trees, pigeons, praying worshippers, and the swarm of tourists.

The most influential open field miniature park, Miniaturk, or "a story land," features scaled-down replicas of famous works of art, transforming Istanbul, Anatolia, and the former Ottoman provinces into fanciful settings. It displays the splendor of Turkish history and culture in all its splendour. The lifestyle of the society through the past is depicted by many human figure models scattered throughout the park, including a railroad worker, Muslims in a mosque courtyard, Jews praying in a synagogue, a flower salesman, etc.

The Golden Horn, an arm of the Bosphorus and a natural port on the historical peninsula separating Istanbul's old and modern neighborhoods, is where the first Byzantine colonies were established. the neighborhood where Byzantine Jews, Italian merchants, and other minority who are not Muslims lived. The Jewish Hospital (Or-Chayim), Fener Orthodox Patriarchate, Metal Church of St. Stephen the Bulgarian, and the 22 km long Byzantine City Walls—the most formidable defenses of the Middle Ages—can all be seen as you travel along Balat's historical traces.
