Whether you are arriving, departing or connecting, this guide covers everything you need, from ground transportation and parking to terminals, airlines, customs and security at LAX.

Location

LAX Airport Location

LAX is located in the Westchester area, about 18 miles (29 km) southwest of downtown Los Angeles. Direct access via Interstate 405 and 105 links the airport to Hollywood, Santa Monica, Beverly Hills and other popular destinations.

Facilities

LAX Facilities

LAX offers free Wi-Fi, charging points, diverse dining, shopping and art installations throughout the terminals. Travellers can also use airline lounges and meet and greet services for a smoother journey.

Transportation

Ground Transportation

Taxis and rideshare services operate from the LAX-it pick-up area, while FlyAway buses run to key points across the city. The free shuttle and new Automated People Mover connect the terminals and the Metro rail network. See airport to city centre.

Airlines

Airlines and Connectivity

LAX connects travellers with cities across North America and destinations on six continents, including London, Tokyo, Dubai, Sydney and Beijing. See the full list of airlines and terminals and live arrival and departure information.

LAX has nine terminals arranged in a horseshoe, each with its own airlines, dining and shops. The Tom Bradley International Terminal handles most international flights, with customs and immigration facilities for arriving passengers.

Parking

Parking Services

Short-stay and long-stay car parks are located near each terminal, with economy lots and valet parking also available. Booking online in advance usually secures a better rate, and the car parks are monitored for security.

Customs

Entry and Customs

International arrivals clear US Customs and Border Protection at the Tom Bradley terminal, with Global Entry and Mobile Passport Control for eligible travellers. The US has no national VAT refund scheme, but duty-free shops serve departures.

Security

Security Procedures

TSA handles security screening at LAX using modern screening technology. TSA PreCheck and CLEAR lanes help eligible passengers move faster, so allow extra time at peak hours and check your terminal before you travel.
