Weight Cap Safety Rule
International air transport safety rules cap any single piece of checked luggage at 32 kg (70 lbs). A bag heavier than 32 kg cannot be accepted as passenger baggage and must be sent as freight or cargo.

The standard maximum size for checked luggage across legacy carriers is 158 cm / 62 inches in total (length + width + height), including wheels and handles.
Low-Cost vs. Full-Service
Low-cost carriers (Ryanair, Wizz Air, Spirit, Frontier) charge for both cabin roller bags and checked luggage. Legacy carriers include them on standard fares but sell Light / Basic fares without checked baggage.
