1. Tourist-Friendly Card Types

The following cards are available to tourists:

İstanbulkart (Anonymous / Ordinary Card): reusable, no registration or photo required.

Limited-Use Ticket: disposable preloaded card with 1, 2, 3, 5, or 10 rides.

İstanbul City Card: unlimited public transit access for 1, 3, 5, 7, or 15 days, with an optional Plus package that includes museum entries and a Bosphorus boat tour.

Important: Personalized cards (student, senior, etc.) are not available to tourists.

2. Who Can Use Each Card?

• Anonymous İstanbulkart and Limited-Use Tickets can be used by anyone, requiring no ID, photo, or registration.
• İstanbul City Card is designed specifically for domestic or foreign tourists, available to all non-personalized users.

5. Where to Buy the Cards

All card types are available at:

• Vending machines and kiosks in metro/tram/ferry/bus/funicular stations, including those labeled for City Card.

• Authorized City Card representatives, often found in tourist information centers or major transport hubs.

6. How to Buy & Activate

Anonymous Card: pay deposit, then load credit at machine or shop.

Limited-Use Ticket: select number of rides, pay full fare upfront.

City Card: choose transit-only or Plus package, select duration, pay upfront.

Pick your card, and it’s ready. No registration or photo required.

7. Validity & Usage

• Anonymous card: No expiration; re-loadable.
• Limited-Use Ticket: Valid until all rides are used.
• City Card: Valid from first tap for chosen period (1–15 days).
• Transfers: Within 2 hours, up to 5 transfers are allowed with discounted fares.
• Multi-person usage: A single anonymous card can be tapped for up to 5 people in succession.

8. Mobile App / Virtual Card?

No official mobile app or virtual card option is available for tourists. Only physical cards purchased via kiosks or machines can be used.
