Hi, I'm flying from Canada to Malaysia (9+ hr layover in Istanbul). Fully vaccinated. PCR test will be taken within 72 hours.
I plan to leave transit area - A) Will I be tested upon arrival? B) If negative, do I have option of remaining in transit area instead of quarantine?Reply·0·0

Yes Joseph, you will have to take the test if you're planning to leave the transit area. If the result turned positive then you will have to quarantine for 14days before leaving for your next destination. You can make a PCR test before landing in Istanbul to be safer.

Passengers who are fully vaccinated and hold a COVID vaccination certificate do not need to submit a PCR test in order to enter
Turkey. All you need is to complete the "Turkey Traveler Entry" webform and maintain the HES Code (health certificate) 72 hours at most before departing and presented at check-in and upon arriving.

Turkey is not opening yet for South Africa, it's still banning the flights due to the new Covid variation.

We are from South Africa. We plan to join an
American tour group to Turkey from 22 February 2022. Is there any way that we would be able to join the
American group without 14 day quarantine period? We are fully vaccinated (J&J)and will produce a negative PCR test.

Passengers who have only transit in the Istanbul airport do not need to submit a PCR test as long as they stay in the transit area, you must pay attention to the requirements of the country of your destination with regards to PCR testing, age limits, and isolation periods.
